Second Nature

Second Nature

I am pleased to invite you to Second Nature, a new exhibition at VILLEPIN, bringing together works by Hiroshi Nagai, Kenix Liang, and myself.
In a time shaped by ecological fragility and rapid transformation, Second Nature reflects on how artists construct personal yet expansive worlds as a way of navigating environmental uncertainty, accelerating technology, and social instability. Through our distinct visual languages, we each explore the idea of a “second nature” — ecosystems that feel both intimate and boundless, where perception becomes a tool for survival.
By shifting scale, dissolving boundaries between inner and outer landscapes, and revealing what contemporary life often obscures, the exhibition invites a reconsideration of what we understand as natural today.

Youjin Yi @park

Park is a project space within the gallery that serves as a platform for emerging positions and experimental approaches since 2022. Through an open and collaborative concept, Park gives visibility to new ways of thinking, expanded models of artistic research and alternative concepts of (re)presentation. The specific architecture of the space becomes an integral part of each exhibition project. Park functions autonomously, but can interact in analogy or contrast with the main exhibitions running in the gallery.
